I hope you've all enjoyed the long weekend. Special mention to our beautiful Koka Kat who is celebrating her birthday today.
Last Friday we hosted my cousin Mr Butler who is a teacher at Pekerau Primary school in Te Awamutu. Mr Butler had come in to look at all of the awesome ICT across our school and we got him to film our lip dub with his drone. Due to me being sick and out of the class for Professional Development last week we never got to have a run through so I am super impressed and pleased with my kids for the awesome finished product...it's not the lip dub we anticipated..more of a music clip extravaganza..but pretty awesome nonetheless! Nice work 22'ers...next team work-movement challenge...Sketchshe dubs Gisint style! Mr Butler's year 5-6 class are looking forward to our interclass challenge - Poverty Bay vs Waikato!
Congratulations to Flynn Cave who made the year 7 boys hockey team to compete against Whakatane in a few weeks time. Thank you so much to all of our 22@Gisint whanau who have offered to host billets during the Whakatane Exchange. We are still a few beds short so if you are able to take one or two students or have not returned your form yet please email me or the office admin@gisint.school.nz.
Many students are progressing well with their speeches and are busy putting the finishing touches on them in preparation for our class finals next week. Science and Technology fair prep is also ticking along nicely and this week in class we will be focusing on research to support our projects. We will also be making Rubber Polymer Balls and using stop animation to record our observations and we will be working on our soupbones picture books in order to have them completed by the end of the term. We will be heading to a local childcare centre in week 11 so that the students can share their learning with some of Gizzy's little people. As well as this we will be focusing on decimals this week and continuing our awesome shared reader 'Kensuke's Kingdom'. Once we complete this story we will be penning some book reviews and making movie trailers. For reading we will be using different scientific texts to focus on the reading strategy Summarising Non Fiction. So much to do and time is flying by! Have a good week everyone.
Congratulations to Sophie Kelly and Mason Tuari who received our class certificates at assembly on Friday. Mason and Sophie are both a pleasure to have in 22@Gisint and have both been working hard in and out of class. Kei runga noa atu korua!
