One week to go until camp

Good morning everyone,

Hope you've been enjoying this beautiful Gizzy weather. We are now only a week away from our departure to Omaio Bay and fingers crossed the weather is just as lovely there as it is here. Thanks to everyone who has paid the $90 camp fee, please let me know if you are having difficulty with this so I can sort something out. You may pay it off in installments if that makes things easier but the school does have equity funding if you need some assistance. I have added an info booklet below and will send home a hard copy version tomorrow as well. Thank you to everyone who has assisted with making our end of year excursion a reality either by coming along to assist or by allowing your child to attend. We have had a fantastic year in room 22 with the most amazing group of children so Koka Kat, Koka Sam and I are all looking forward to spending this final full week with them.

On Tuesday evening we have the Sports Award Evening. Your child would've brought home a yellow invitation on Friday to let you know if they will be receiving a certificate or award (Em, yours is still in class). This year has been even more challenging than usual to select the award recipients because of the high calibre of the children in our class and across year 7. I will be emailing parents tonight if your child is receiving an award at our end of year prizegiving to be held on Tuesday 15th December from 10am to 12pm so that you can arrange time off work. If your child is getting an award at any of the events please let me know in advance if they are unable to attend. We also have our Arts Award Evening this Thursday in the school hall. Invitations will go home tomorrow for this. Bo, Alex, Jasmyn and Giorgia will be performing an item that they have been working on in Drama Extension and Jade, Rigante and Kalais will be opening up our evening as a part of our Kapa Haka extension roopu. Look forward to seeing lots of you there.

On Friday we had another highly enjoyable and informative inquiry project presentation from Genna. Genna chose to research 'Diabetes' as it is something her family deals with on a daily basis. We all learnt a lot about what diabetes is and the best ways to prevent and manage it. Thanks heaps to Genna's Mum Viv who came in to show the class how Genna tests her blood. We continue our presentations tomorrow but once again it is great to see that the children have self selected meaningful projects.

This week in class we will be doing some Maths Challenges, Creative Writing, Showcasing our wearable arts creations, have our final tech for the year, try to complete our Halfmen of O story, work on our camp items, revisit our risk analysis of our camp activities and a rooms 22, 23 and 24 visit to Kaiti Hill (A permission form will come home for this).
