Thank you to everyone who supported our shop day today for Oliver and for purchasing doughnuts. We raised $250 for him to go toward his next trip and I was so proud of the way our class rallied around for Oliver by baking and making things to sell, by buying doughnuts and products and by helping to distribute the doughnuts around the school before lunch. We have a wonderful class whanau and I know that Oliver and his family really appreciate your support.
Rosie, Leah and Kalais selling their delicious cupcakes and cake for Oliver
Giorgia and Jasmyn's Marshmallow Pops were a hit.
Team Delivery - Awesome team work to get the doughnuts distributed before lunch.
Yummy Doughnuts!! The classroom smelt divine...if only we could have an air freshener that was doughnut scented.
Final Check on the orders before bagging. Oliver, Grace, Kaitlyn, Mason, Emily, Koka Sam and Jasmyn.
Life Education
We have so far had 2 awesome sessions with Quentin and Harold in the Life Ed Truck and look forward to our final session tomorrow afternoon. We have been learning about friendship, choices, peer pressure and ways to deal with stress. Each student will receive a workbook that covers the topics we discuss in class.
The newly upgraded Life Ed truck is very tech savvy. We wish we had a big screen like that in our room so I'll have to get my 22'ers to write some very persuasive letters to Mr Udall!
We looked at what our bodies need
And spent a lot of time discussing the qualities that make a good friend. Quentin was very impressed with our class and the depth of their answers. He also complimented the children on how respectful they were while listening to each other.
Deno and Alex doing an excellent role play on being subjected to peer pressure. After round 1 the children had to switch roles and the theme was around a friend trying to pressure another friend into bunking school to head to McDonalds. We then watched a clip around smoking and negative and positive peer pressure.
Even at year 7 and 8 level, these children still love seeing Harold.
We learnt about stress and ways we manage and reduce this in our lives.
Mindlab
