I hope you all had a fabulous long weekend with your families. I had a lovely weekend in Waiheke Island as my cousin got married. It was my first time on the island and what a beautiful place! My cousin married a South African and a lot of his family had travelled from South Africa..this made for a lot of cheeky banter between the wedding guests...fortunately for the Kiwi's we got the result we hoped for.
Miss Beattie emailed me after school on Friday to say she absolutely loved being in our class again and that the students were fantastic. Whilst I had a wonderful time in America and in Waiheke I am now looking forward to having a very settled end to term 4 and enjoying every moment with my 22'ers.
This week we have a number of events happening and unfortunately we do not have tech this week due to the tech staff preparing for open night on Thursday. Our school is going to be open from 4:30pm to 6:30pm with Mr Udall giving a speech in the hall at 5:30pm for all prospective parents and their children who are looking at coming to Gisint next year. Some of our class will be asked to assist different staff on the night and if your child is selected they will be bringing home a permission slip.
Many thanks to everyone who returned their camp forms last week. The majority of parents are happy to support this camp so we will be travelling to Omaio on Monday the 7th December and returning to Gizzy on Thursday the 11th December. If you would prefer for your child to stay home for that week could you please email me so I can confirm numbers for transportation. Thanks so much to all of you who indicated you can accompany us. I will send out camp permission forms and information on Wednesday. A reminder that this camp will cost $90 which is the same as the start of year camp costs. You may like to start paying this off weekly to make things easier. Please email me if money is an issue as the school has the ability to assist.
Next Tuesday we have our final Mindlab session for the year. Could you please email me if you are able to once again assist with transportation. The cost for this visit is $2 and the money just needs to come in by next Tuesday. I will be getting the children's feedback tomorrow on what they would like to do for our final visit. Thanks so much to all of you for supporting these visits throughout the year.
There are so many amazing events happening at our school this week but we can't start without acknowledging a couple of brilliant weekend events.
1: Congratulations to our beautiful Mrs Leach aka Miss Jodie Laing who got married on Saturday. We are sure that room 12 will be anxious to see their lovely teacher in the morning to congratulate her.
2: The AB's are through to the final!! To celebrate and show our support our school is having a BLACK OUT day this Friday where all staff and students are encouraged to wear their black gear/AB's gear to school and we will send the AB's our messages of support and some pics. Get in behind the AB's and rumble through your wardrobe ready to rock your blacks on Friday. Athletics day will run as normal on Friday so students may want to show their support for their syndicates with coloured balloons, signs or ribbons. Whanau please feel free to come along and spectate and don't forget to wear your black clothes too.
