Week 4 is upon us and way to go All Blacks!!

Kia ora koutou,

What a game! I hope you managed to get up to watch the final this morning and were as ecstatic with the final result as everyone at our house. I am sure everyone will have an extra skip in their step this week and every Kiwi around the globe will be enjoying this success.

Here is a run down of what's in store in room 22 this week.

Tuesday
Mindlab visit - thank you to the parents who have indicated they can assist with transportation to and from the Mindlab. We are still a couple of vehicles short so if you are free we would really appreciate your help. We will depart from our classroom at 12:15pm and return around 2:30pm. Our focus for this lesson is 3D printing and design. We were scheduled to do this lesson earlier in the year but did something else so it will be great to learn more about these concepts. Could you please ensure your child has their $2 for the Mindlab on Tuesday.

Friday

This week lunchtime sport begins with a schoolwide T-Ball competition. We have had a couple of practise sessions in class PE time so will give it our best shot when we take on the other classes. Please ensure your child always has the correct PE gear otherwise we get penalised points for being unorganised.

We have a few celebrations...

Congratulations to Charli and Genna who have been doing very well with their Kayaking events. You can check out the girls blogs later this week for more detailed information on their placings but fingers crossed these two will be kayaking for NZ one day.

At last Friday's assembly Rosie, Soph, Bo, Bray and Aaliyah were acknowledged for their amazing science fair results from the regional fair. Unfortunately these students missed receiving their certificates and prizes on the night so Mr Udall presented their awards to them.Well done all of you amazing 22'ers...we all know how hard you work. Unfortunately a couple of these students were away on Friday so we could not get a photo.

A reminder to all leadership children who did not hand your completed Dream Team forms to Mr Hart last week that you need to ensure this is done by tomorrow morning.

I will be sending home a new homework task book this week which is optional for those students who would like more homework options. These tasks may be presented however one wishes and all students who complete the tasks will be celebrated at the end of the term. Last week we trialled our fun theory rubbish bins in the playground and the results were overwhelmingly positive. On the first day only one tiny piece of rubbish was left in our lunch eating area when there is usually a lot more. Well done to all 22'ers who used their creative thinking skills to solve different problems using fun ad the driving force.

Here are a few pics of some of the completed projects.

Well done to Giorgia, Charli, Emily and Genna for their Fu theory rubbish bin. This was also a popular number as each gender did not want to lose. The added incentive of a mufti day for the highest collection of rubbish was also a motivating factor. Awesome collaboration took place with this team too. Ka pai girls.

Kelly's basket ball themed rubbish bin was very popular and in the first morning alone he managed to collect two bags of rubbish. Awesome thinking and creativity Kelly! Perhaps Mr Udall could modify our school bins to look like this next year. We also found out that adding in extra competitive element that we had greater results. For examples things labelled boys vs girls or All Blacks vs Wallabies definitely had a greater affect on people's engagement.

Mayers fun theory was about getting people to stop using toxic chemical fertilizer and use organic fertilizer made out of seaweed. The fun was in producing the product. This was an outstanding project that reflected lot of time, creativity, research and effort. Great job Mayer!

There has been oodles of incredible work handed in to me over the past week and I will be showcasing different projects on our class blog over the coming weeks. I never fail to be impressed by the enthusiastic learners in room 22 as well as the quality of their work.

Finally, your child may have let you know that we have an E-pal school in France that we will be communicating with regularly via email. Epals is a fantastic initiative to learn about other cultures and make friends on the other side of the world. I will post some more information about our buddy school over the coming weeks.

Have a fantastic week everyone and don't forget..

1: Tech tomorrow
2: $2 for Mindlab on Tuesday
